I’ve always been really drawn to the story of the Israelites’ journey through the desert found in the Bible. They spent 40 years wandering around a relatively small area, completely dependent on God while He taught them incredible lessons that have lived on for generations. One part of Israel’s story in particular has marked me, and inspired the name of my business. 

As the story goes, the millions wandering through the desert were led out by God not just to leave their previous, oppressive existence. They were really being led TO a place- a land flowing with milk and honey ("...and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand and power of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a land good and large, a land flowing with milk and honey [a land of plenty]." Exodus 3:8).

While most of us (thankfully) don’t find ourselves wandering through a literal desert, what we learn from Israel’s journey is just as profound and applicable today as it was then. The journey the Lord is leading every one of His children on is one of learning to lean on Him; of discovering what it means to hope in what is unseen and to have faith in the One who cannot lie. It’s a journey of learning to actively choose peace not because our circumstances evoke it, but because we know our God is bigger than any situation we may face.

This journey inspires me every day, and is the reason Milk + Honey Design Studio exists. This is so much more than my sweet little design business. This is a God-sized dream that’s led me on my own journey of trusting the Lord, and I pray it inspires you to pursue the great big dreams on your own heart as well.
